- General Information

    Brief Introduction

    The major is taught entirely in English and aim to produce professional capable of performing managerial and specialist functions with businesses and consultancy firms, or taking part in related teaching and research work in businesses or other social organizations. With the common basis of fundamental theories in management and economics.

    The major of Master of Business Administration emphasizes the competencies of applying cross disciplinary knowledge to deal real business problems.The minimum number of opening a master’s class is 15.

    Teaching Objective

    The mission of the MBA programme is to cultivate MBA students with creative thinking through the acquisition and application of Three Key Skill sets:social responsibility, social capital,and strategic planning.

    Program Structure

    The durations of MBA are 2 years, but the students have the freedom to graduate within 5 years after admission without penalty.

    Strategies of the MBA Programme

    The MBA programme will implement a strategy to train junior to mid-level managers with creative problem-solving abilities, team spirit, and practical knowledge. In more detail, the strategies for the MBA programme are listed below.

    Quality Strategy :
    The MBA office plans to add more external advisors in the MBA project supervisory group to widen and strengthen the MBA students’ practical leadership skills. The office also plans to place more training and competition opportunities for the younger lecturers. Through these trainings and competitions excellent younger instructor who possesses up-to-date business knowledge can get more involvement at their earlier stage of career development to the MBA programme. In addition, the office also aims to increase the students’ evaluation for the module and the instructors to retain excellent instructor and eliminate the ones with poor performance.

    Service Strategy :
    In addition to increasing the amount of the industry supervisors, the MBA office plans to arrange more regular external presentations by well known industrialists and government officials, and increase the forms of the communication between the MBA students and the business practitioners. Inviting practitioners and experts to the MBA class to have a direct dialogue with the students will be a new content giving the students an opportunity to ask questions directly to the successful managers. The office also decides to establish dedicated staff to serve the MBA students better. The class supervisors will be full-time administration staff instead of teaching and research occupied academic faculty in the past to guarantee they are 8 hours available to help the students as needed.

    Marketing Strategy:
    The MBA office will continue its current higher than average scholarship and increase the forms of scholarship to the MBA students. The office will initiate the brand awareness campaigns through organizing national and regional MBA forums, increasing more open lectures and open houses activities, and organizing national campaigns in specific topics which the school has competitive advantages.

    Curriculum

    The MBA programmes offers 13 core compulsory modules and 21 electives that cover the most popular topics in the business world. Students can select courses based on their career development plan, their overall fundamental business knowledge and skills along with their interests.

    The specialisation of the MBA programme is the combination of the business theory and the China’s actual economic situation to fulfil the needs, especially the needs from the steel and its related industry. Based on the experience of the digital manufacturing and low-carbon research the school has gained, the MBA/EMBA programme aims to educate the student’s innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, and extend the teaching and research to other related manufacturing industries.

    The core modules related to international economics and international trade were added on top of the fundamental modules to address the internationalization goal of our strategic plan. The elective courses include international law, project management and international business. The instructors summarize the domestic company and Multinational Corporation’s operation experience in China and develop cases that related to the corporations management and practices experience to the students.

    Table 1 presents three levels of the MBA curriculum: tools and techniques, managing the organization, and engaging with the world.When MBA students select their topics of dissertations, there are 29 selectable directions covering 6 main fields including management science, enterprise management, accounting, financial management, economic and international business, engineering project management, see Table 2 .

    Internship & Career

    MBA Alumni Association

    Alumni are one of the most important resources for the DSEM. The quality of the alumni association’s work greatly affects the development of the DSEM in the long run. The alumni association affairs are administrated by the public relations office which was established in May 2004. Prior to 2009, the MBA alumni activities are all integrated in the public relations office. In order to better serve the MBA alumni, the MBA Alumni Associations were established in December 2010. The Shenzhen MBA Alumni Association was created in January 2009.

    Size of the Association

    By the end of May 2011, the DSEM alumni association had over 5,000 members with detailed contact information. The office made detailed address books for future communications.

    Services

    • Set up alumni scholarship.
    • Publish DSEM’s news and activities to provide updated information for the alumni.
    • Collect famous and influential alumni’s information to inspire the current students.

    MBA specific services

    • Collect and store the MBA alumni contact information.
    • Establish and maintain the MBA Association.
    • Invite influential MBA alumni back to DSEM to share their successful life experience.
    • Organize various homecoming activities for the MBA alumni.
    • Build up networks through the MBA alumni’s connection with various industry partners.

    Accreditation

    The MBA, EMBA program have pass the AMBA(the Association of MBAs) certification on 25 August, 2013, becoming the 18th  at the Chinese mainland, third AMBA accredited member of Beijing.

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, have attained required language level and degree.

2. Applicants for Master's program must be under age of 40, have attained a bachelor's degree, and HSK level 5.

4. Two recommendation letters from your referees

The referees should be professors . At least one of them should have knowledge of your recent academic work . The format of the recommendation letters must be original documents either in Chinese or English .

5. Bachelor's degree diploma

Students expecting to graduate should provide an official letter stating expected graduation date, and submit the graduate diploma if admitted, must be original documents or certified copies either in Chinese or English.

6. Undergraduate school transcript

Academic achievement up to the present , including course taken and standard achieved , must be original documents or certified copies either in Chinese or English.

7. Passport photo

A recent passport-sized photo of the applicant

8. Photocopy of valid passport

With name, passport number & expiration date, and photo included

9. Health certificate from a public hospital
